How to defragment your computer

2012, September 10

Q: Can you help me defrag my computer?

A: I can definitely give you instructions on doing this yourself. If you have not done a defrag lately it could take a while to finish, and while it is defragging you should not use the computer. Before starting, close any programs that may be running. Then follow these steps:

1. Click Start and open My Computer
2. Right-click the local disk drive C:, and then click Properties
3. On the Tools tab, click Defragment Now.
4. Click Defragment.

Like I said it may take a while to finish, so it is best to walk away for a bit and let it run.
